Hi, dear friends!
Today I'm going to talk about the Thanksgiving day, the most important celebration in the United States.
It is a very old tradition to thank God, for the beautiful things he's given us such as a family, good health or friends.
This celebration has got Christian origins but Lincoln formalizes it in the middle of the American Civil War.
This tradition started when the Pilgrim Fathers left England for America on the Mayflower and they arrived on the East coast. They didn't use to live in that land, so different from England; Native American helped them and taught them how to hunt and find some food. In the following years, the Pilgrims finally got used to, and so they thanked Native Americans to have saved their lives, creating a celebration for the harvest of their fields.
That celebration has carried on and it is even today a very important moment of US life, to stay together and to stop for a moment our frenetic lives.
The typical Thanksgiving day starts in the afternoon with some football matches on TV and continues with a dinner all together.
The main dish is the stuffed turkey and often there are some sweet potatoes with a blue berry sauce and some dried fruit. Finally a delicious pumpkin cake!
After the Thanksgiving there is the black Friday, a day full of sales, which starts Christmas time.
